Religion vs the gospel
by Fernando inour family's journey out of the watchtower has led us to see the gospel as the antithesis or exact opposite of religion.. for us religion is men telling us what to believe and do (to control us).. for us the gospel is god telling us what he has done (to liberate us from such men).. how have you come to see the relationship between religion and the gospel?.

For us the gospel is God telling us what he has done (to liberate us from such men).
Huh? How has the gospel (whatever that is) liberated hundreds of millions of Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, agnostics, atheists, who far outnumber Christians on this planet?
What does God have in store for them? (Eternal hellfire according to many Christians who believe the gospel)

The question is passe. God didn't protect all those Japanese, mostly old men and women and mothers and babies/children, who died or suffered life-long illness and disabilities at Nagasaki and Hiroshima from atomic bombs dropped on those cities.
Whatever reasons 'God' had to not intervene in the dropping of those atomic bombs, they are the same reasons God would never intervene in any future nuclear war, which would just be the same as Nagasaki and Hiroshima but on a bigger scale.
So save your pointless prayers.

This week's WT study...made me so sick.....
by stuckinarut2 inthis week's study april 15th 2014 was called "do you see the one who is invisible?".
it was perhaps one of the most depressing, controlling, fear-mongering, stress inducing, doctrinally incorrect, hate-inspiring, judgemental, cult-like, irrational, hyped-up, critical, crazy, stretched out, fanciful, illogical, burdensome, inflated, coersive, manipulative, and brain-snappingly weird stuff i have read for some time.... (but i'm sure it was just a rehash and repeat of previous stuff...for the new masses....).
i had to keep up a sane appearance while in the hall, and even answer some garbage while this was being 'studied'... my cognitive disonance must be so strong now, because i found this one of the hardest ones to endure....now that i am home, i have poured a stiff drink and am trying to clear my head...... one paragraph was classic:.

Yes, it's sickening, but there is a good side to such crazy apocalyptic rhetoric. By being so nutty they paint themselves further and further into their doomsday cult corner, causing ever more polarisation between the hardcore loyalist lunatic fringe JW's and the reasonable minded, sensible, intelligent JW's, who will eventually experience disconfirmaton and cognitive dissonanace, and distance themselves from the organisation and perhaps leave altogether.
There's always a price to pay for delusional, false utterances to international mass audiences. The bigger the delusional, false claim, the bigger the eventual price to be paid. It's a kind of karma.

Ensure that you dont appear to be Negative , Unhappy or Bitter
by stuckinarut2 injust a quick thought.... we know that the org loves to paint all those who fade or leave as "negative, bitter and unhappy"...because of course "the truth is the happiest way to live".
so, never allow ourselves to be that way when talking with witnesses, or family members still in.. show them that we are happy, our lives are fulfilled and positive.. then they have no ammunition.
also, it helps other doubters to see that there is life in the world beyond the org..

Great advice Stuckin. Agree fully. But it's not just about our own personal happiness, it's about taking a stand against an organisation that destroys lives and harms people and children.

"100 years of kingdom rule" so what?? what does it mean??
by stuckinarut2 ini cant stop the nagging thoughts in relation to the hype about "100 years of kingdom rule" !.
what is the significance?
why make such a big deal about something like that?.

Show me the quooote!!! (in Jerry McGuire voice)
There is no such quote because it would necessarily mean that the 1,000 year reign started in 1914.

I repeat: show me a quote that clearly and unambigously says who the kingdom is now ruling over.

The End of The World Delusion
by cassuk11 inbeing pushed by religion since the 17th century.
my question is why ?.
-

It's the fear of death and hope for something more than this short life that drives it.

But who is the kingdom actually ruling over? Can anyone show a single quote from a Watchtower publication in the last 20 years that categorically states WHO the kingdom has been reigning over since 1914?
